Did you know there are 7 countries in Central America?

Costa Rica is one of them. I held a retreat in 2018 in Nicaragua. 2019 in Panama. And my heritage and family are from El Salvador so I've traveled to El Salvador several times.

Playa Uvita, translated as Little Grape Beach, interestingly the main shape of the beach here is a Whale’s Tail 🐋

The main attraction: The Whale’s Tail Sand Formation

The number one attraction to Playa Uvita, is the Whale’s Tail Formation:

Which is a sandbar that extends into the ocean and forms the shape of a whale’s tail during low tide.

Of course, after I learned this, I was curious what the Whale Spirit Animal might mean. Do you ever go down those rabbit holes?

And so with my friendly tool Google, I stumble on Spiritianimal.info.

When I read that, it speaks to many of the intentions I have for Activating the Wise Heart Retreat, along with what I've been personally working on for the past 4 years in my own practice.

2nd: Marino Ballena National Park

​

With its relatively secluded beach vibes off the Pacific Coast in the Osa Peninsula region, it is also a marine conservation!

As part of Marino Ballena National Park, (Ballena means Whale in Spanish!) the beach and its surrounding area are protected to ensure the conservation of the unique marine ecosystem.

As visitors, we follow eco-friendly practices, at a minimum not disturbing the wildlife like not leaving any trash behind, but also being mindful of the type of sunscreen we use, or any other carbon footprints we leave behind.

Colorful fish, coral reefs, dolphins, and even humpback whales during their migration season can be seen here.

3rd: Wildlife and Nature!

Apart from marine life, the surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, with lush rainforests and mangrove swamps.

You might spot various species of birds, monkeys, sloths, and other tropical wildlife in the vicinity of the beach.

I know wildlife can kind of freak me out, but the more I immerse my city-self I am reminded that I am nature too.

That nature is often freaked out by me too lol

And Of Course, Beach Activities

Playa Uvita is a great spot for beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. During high tide, the waters are suitable for swimming, and during low tide, the exposed sandbars create shallow pools, perfect for wading and exploring marine life.

I love a good ocean soak, there is nothing quite like feeling the rumbles of the waves amongst your body.

Submerging your entire being while you feel the waves unfold above you.

I cannot wait to feel the Costa Rican waves.
